Fritz might bring some fight to the table but it’s tough to see him overturn a seven-match losing streak against a player still at the peak of his capabilities.
The Serb can be expected to ease past Fritz and set up a meeting against the winner of the Frances Tiafoe v Ben Shelton encounter.

Frances Tiafoe v Ben Shelton
It’s a match-up between the experience of Tiafoe – yes this is his tenth appearance at the US Open – and the big, booming serving prowess of Ben Shelton.
Tiafoe’s run to the last eight has been quite straightforward without any major hiccups while Shelton has already faced three four-setters and was forced to overcome Australian Open semifinalist Tommy Paul in the previous encounter.
Tiafoe will be our pick to make another semifinal at the US Open but will that be an easy job? We highly doubt.

Cori Gauff v Jelena Ostapenko
There are two near-certainties here – Gauff’s form makes her a favourite and Ostapenko’s not going down without a fight as was the case even against Iga Swiatek. What that gives us is the potential for a topsy-turvy battle that might last the distance, and go into the third set as well.
