Yulia Putintseva v Diana Shnaider Head to Head
Putintseva and Shnaider have never faced off in a competitive match before this.

Putintseva in a Shock Opening Loss at the US Open
Having gone into her first round match at the US Open as a 4/6 favourite (at bet365) against the clay-court specialist Martian Trevisan, Putintseva looked to be doing what was expected of her when she bagelled her opponent in the first set.
A shock result was to follow soon after, however, as Putintseva failed to keep her foot on the gas as she fell to successive tie-breakers in the second and third set.
Putintseva had started the season off reasonable well in hardcourt tournaments with a quarterfinal appearance at the Hobart International and second rounds at Abu Dhabi and Dubai after that.
Her issues on this surface began with opening round defeats in Indian Wells and Miami and over the last six main draw matches she’s played here, she has won just one.
Add that to the fact that Putintseva also lost in the qualifiers of Montreal and Cincinnati, it’s no surprise it would be difficult to bet on her here despite starting out an 11/20 favourite with bet365.

Shnaider More Known for Her Clay Court Prowess
While Shnaider came through the qualifiers to make it to the second round at the Australian Open earlier this year, her short professional tennis career has taken off as a result of her performances on clay.
In fact it was in 2022 that she was able to shoot up from being 877th in the world as a 17-year-old to finishing the season at 110th thanks to four ITF titles on clay.
This year, Shnaider has broken into the top 100 and will enter this tournament ranked 83rd in the world – her career-best ranking.
However, again, a lot of her improvements have been down to her performances on clay with a semifinal appearance at the Hamburg Open being her best showing. It will be interesting to see whether she can convert that form on to hardcourt results, especially against a player who has been struggling recently.
Shnaider starts off a 6/4 (at bet365) underdog in this one.
Putintseva v Shnaider Prediction and Tip
Putintseva’s form has been dodgy and that gives Shnaider a good chance to make things count. We could see Shnaider win a set here as a result if not more.
Tips:
- Low Risk Tip: Shnaider to win a set: 3/5 (with bet365)
- Moderate Risk Tip: Over 21.5 games in the match: 5/6 (with bet365)
