Beatriz Haddad Maia v Marta Kostyuk Head to Head

Haddad Maia and Kotyuk will be playing their first match here.

Haddad Maia Edges Out Fernandez

Since coming back from her fitness concerns at Wimbledon where she had made the fourth round, Haddad Maia hasn’t had too much rhythm going for her. That has led to consistency issues which has meant that in the five matches following her return from her injury, she had won just two.

Which is why Haddad Maia’s opener against Leylah Fernandez was expected to be a crucial and tight match that could have gone either way.

Even the bookmakers looked like they were a touch confused with Haddad Maia starting out only a 4/5 favourite with bet365.

41 minutes into the match, Haddad Maia had grabbed the first set despite losing her serve once and soon after gone 4-2 up in the second set. Unfortunately for her, she wasn’t able to close things out as Fernandez broke right back, then saved a match-point on her own serve before clinching the equaliser with a third break of the set.

In the decider, however, Haddad Maia rediscovered her serving rhythm, as she won 80% of her first serve points while breaking her opponent twice to win it 6-3, 5-7, 6-3.

Can she now end the Kotyuk’s challenge as she starts off a 3/5 favourite here with bet365.

Kostyuk Finally Wins One

Kostyuk looked to have found some sort of rhythm when she overcame Maria Sakkari in the first round at Wimbledon. She led Paula Badosa in the second round there before her opponent retired from the match too, making it a rare third round appearance at Wimbledon for the Ukrainian.

Since then, however, Kostyuk had won nothing.

She lost to Liudmilla Samsonova in the third round there, and then went on to lose four in a row including matches against Qinwen Zheng, Jasmine Paolini and Elena Rybakina just before this tournament.

Which is why, while Kostyuk was a 3/5 favourite against Magda Linette, there were no certainties about her performance here. What followed would have been a mighty relief for the world number 45 as she registered a 6-2, 7-6 (5) win over her Polish opponent.

Kostyuk will have her hands full against Haddad Maia here but can she put up a fight? She starts off a 8/5 underdog here with bet365.

Haddad Maia v Kostyuk Prediction and Tip
