Caroline Garcia v Danielle Collins Head to Head
There have been two previous meetings between these two players and Collins has won them both. The second of these matches came at this very tournament last year where Collins won that opening round match in straight sets.

Garcia Wins One Against Stephens
Such has been Garcia’s form that despite being a top 10 player she had gone into her second round match against Sloane Stephens as a second favourite. The Frenchwoman was 1/1 with bet365 and not surprisingly so after having lost six of her previous eight matches.
Which is why the overriding emotion for Garcia at the end of this encounter would be that of relief as she came away a winner, needing three sets and an hour and 46 minutes to clinch the victory.
Overall though, Garcia had a fairly solid game for it too, losing her serve just twice in the three-setter and winning 78% of her first serve points. On the other hand, she overcame Stephens’ serve four times, taking advantage of her struggles.
What this win also meant was Garcia has now consolidated her ranking points from the previous year after she had been dumped out in the first round of this very tournament in 2022.
She now faces an opponent who had sent her out of this tournament last year and starts off a 7/5 underdog with bet365.

Collins Staves off In-Form Ostapenko
There wasn’t much to choose between the two but it was Collins who managed to stave off the US Open quarterfinalist Jelena Ostapenko and make it to the last eight stage here.
In a match that went on for an hour and 49 minutes, Collins stayed in the tournament with a comeback from behind 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 win over Ostapenko.
Both players dropped their six times in the encounter but where Collins scored over her Latvian opponent was the manner in which she overcame being a break down twice in the second set and then came back from 1-3 in the third to go on a rampage.
She grabbed five of the last six games in the final set to seal off the victory.
Collins will know of Garcia’s on-court issues recently and will hope she can take advantage of those even as she looks to live up to the 11/20 win odds in her favour with bet365.
Garcia v Collins Prediction and Tip
Backing Collins to go past Garcia here given all that has happened on court in recent times for Garcia. If Collins gets off to a quick start, this might not even go to a third.
Tips:
- Low Risk Tip: Collins to win: 4/9 (with bet365)
