Barbora Krejcikova v Beatriz Haddad Maia Head to Head

Their only previous WTA meeting came in Tallinn in 2022 and Krejcikova had won that quarterfinal in straight sets. They had faced off on the ITF circuit before too in 2016 and against it was Krejcikova who had clinched that

Krejcikova Eases Past Kalinina

Krejcikova’s recent form had been underwhelming to say the least and despite facing off against a player who was not only ranked well below her, but also one who was struggling for form herself, she was a mere 4/6 favourite with bet365 to win it.

That Krejcikova was able to ease to a 6-3, 6-2 win over Anhelina Kalinina in a match that lasted a mere hour and 41 minutes was a sheer indication of how well she played.

Sure, Krejcikova faced seven break-points but a spirited showing from her ensured she lost her serve just once in the encounter.

And to top that, the Czech player overcame Kalinina’s serve on four occasions, including three times in the second set in which she went on to take a 5-0 lead at one point.

Krejcikova faces a tougher challenge now in the last eight stage but having ended a four-match losing streak, she will feel much more confident despite going in again as a 4/6 favourite at bet365.

Haddad Maia Huffs & Puffs to a Win

After having scraped through to a three-set win over Leylah Fernandez in the first round of the competition, Haddad Mai was nearly put to the sword in round two as well. And again, she required three sets before she managed to quell Marta Kostyuk’s challenge.

In a match that went on for over three hours, Haddad Maia shrugged off a 3-5 deficit in the first set and then overcame the heartbreak of failing to serve out the match at 5-4 and 6-5 in the second set to win it in three.

After two very close sets, it was Haddad Maia who came out the fresher of the two in the decider as she broke her opponent twice, and despite missing out on three match-points while serving at 5-1, she clinched the win 7-5, 6-7 (3), 6-2.

Haddad Maia had last won successive matches at Wimbledon where she had made the fourth round before having to retire from her encounter because of fitness concerns. These back to back three-set wins seem to suggest that all that is behind her now and one can expect her to give Krejcikova a fight here.

She starts off a 6/5 underdog with bet365 though.

Krejcikova v Haddad Maia Prediction and Tip

Krejcikova has the edge with the bookmakers but we think the match could get quite close in the end. Haddad Maia looks more battle-hardened and could come up with a surprise.

Tips:

  • Moderate Risk Tip: Haddad Maia to win: 6/5 (with bet365)
