Caroline Garcia v Aliaksandra Sasnovich Head to Head

There have been five previous meetings between these two players including three in hardcourt competitions and Garcia has won them all.

Garcia In Continuing Struggles

Garcia continues to slip down the rankings charts as a result of her continuing underwhelming performances at the highest level.

The latest in the long list of such showings for the former world number four was a quarterfinal loss at the San Diego Open where she was crushed 6-2, 6-3 by Danielle Collins.

Collins had gone into the encounter as a favourite despite being ranked more than 30 places behind Garcia and lived up to those expectations as the Frenchwoman failed to rise to her best levels.

While Garcia did overcome Sloane Stephens in her previous encounter there, her overall form in recent times has been anything but what you would expect from a top-10 player – or even a top-20 – player. Since making the final of the Monterrey Open in March this season, Garcia hasn’t won more than two successive matches in any tournament.

And even that hasn’t been as regular as she would have liked. Not surprisingly, the WTA Finals 2022 winner is 25th in the Race to the Finals at the moment.

Can Garcia live up to her favourites odds of 3/5 with bet365 here?

Sasnovich Goes Rus in Opener

Over the last five tournaments, all of which came in hardcourt competitions, Sasnovich has never won more than one win in the main draw. Going up against a player who has beaten her every single time over all their previous five meetings doesn’t inspire too much hope from Sasnovich but there’s an obvious silver lining.

And that’s Garcia’s form.

Sasnovich will know she wouldn’t get a better chance than this to go past the struggling Garcia and for that she might need to play as well as she did in her opener.

The Belarusian defeated Arantxa Rus 6-1, 7-6 (5) in her first round match here, needing an hour and 36 minutes to past her. And while she lost her serve twice including once when Rus served for the second set, Sasnovich was able to find a way past her opponent.

If she can take that kind of form to this Garcia match, things could get interesting as she takes 7/5 (with bet365) odds into this second round encounter.

Garcia v Sasnovich Prediction and Tip

Garcia is a favourite but only just. If she wins, we could see a tussle here that could take us into the third set.

Tips:

  • Low Risk Tip: Over 21.5 games in the match: 4/5 (with bet365)
  • Moderate Risk Tip: Three sets in the match: 5/4 (with bet365)
