Ons Jabeur v Alycia Parks Head to Head
There have been two previous meetings between these two players including one on clay and one in a grass court tournament. Jabeur has won them both.

While Jabeur did make it to the quarterfinal of the Cincinnati Open and then the fourth round at the US Open, she would have liked to do a lot better than that as a world number seven.
What made those results worse is what followed at the San Diego Open where Jabeur was sent packing in her opener. After getting a first round bye, Jabeur was ousted by Anastasia Potapova in a straight-set defeat that would have raised a few eyebrows about Jabeur’s fitness.
Jabeur had earlier complained of flu-like symptoms at the US Open and it does look she wasn’t fully over that in San Diego either.
She will now feature in this tournament at Guadalajara for the first time in her career as she looks to ensure she makes it to the WTA Finals later this season. Currently, she is eighth in that race but will hope she can leave the competition behind with a solid showing here.

Parks Eases Past Davis
In a match that lasted a mere one hour and 12 minutes, Parks eased to a straight-set win over Lauren Davis to set up a second round meeting with Jabeur.
Parks won 6-3, 6-2 after having fallen a break behind in the third game of the encounter. From that point onward, it was all one-way traffic in favour of Parks who broke her twice in that set and two more times in the second set to wrap up the win.
The world number 45 had earlier lost three matches in a row coming into this tournament which included opening round losses at the US Open and San Diego Open.
The last time Parks won successive matches in a tournament came at the Rabat Open in May where she had reached the quarterfinal before going to Lucia Bronzetti. Can she repeat that showing here albeit with a top-10 player up against her.
