Podoroska Is 30-25 in 2023

Nadia Podoroska is at her best on clay courts and once again this year, the Argentine has produced her best results on dirt.

Podorsoka won the Cali 125 title and reached the semifinals and quarterfinals of Valencia and Las Visbal Challengers respectively. She also reached an ITF semifinal on clay.

On hard courts, Podoroska is 9-9 so far this year, with a semifinal and a quarterfinal finishes being her best on the surface in the ITF tournaments in Mexico City 2 and Irapuato.

At the tour level, the former world no. 36 hasn’t had a lot of impact this year. The 2020 French Open semifinalist made it to the final four stage in Budapest but struggled to win consecutive matches in any of the other tour level events that she featured in.

Podoroska, who started the year at no. 196, broke back into the top 100 in June. She will be eager to remain in the top 100 and make her move up the rankings.

Wang Looking to Make an Impression at Home

She has made two past appearances in the tournament but is yet to win a first round match.

Will it be third time lucky for Xiyu Wang? She was in decent touch at the start of the month, reaching the final of Tokyo 5 ITF, but made a first round exit from Osaka last week after being beaten by top seed Lin Zhu.

Overall Wang is 22-22 this year. The 22-year-old caught an in Madrid and Rome, where she reached the third and fourth rounds respectively.

She also reached the second round in Indian Wells, Miami and the US Open. So she has made good starts in WTA tournaments this year, but has not been able to string more wins together.

The world no. 88 will be hoping to make a deep run in Guangzhou, where the home conditions will offer her some support.

Podoroska v Wang Prediction and Tip

When it comes to tour level events, Wang has produced better results than Podoroska. She has also scored more wins overall on hard courts this year. On top of it she will be playing at home. So all these factors favour the Chinese left-hander. Expect her to beat the Argentine and advance to the next round.

Tips:

  • Low Risk Tip: Wang to win: 1/3 (with bet365)
  • Moderate Risk Tip: Under 20.5 games in the match: 4/5 (with bet365)
