Greet Minnen defeated Diane Parry 6-2, 6-2 on Tuesday to advance to the second round in Guangzhou.
The Belgian, who is currently sitting on a career-high ranking of no. 68, needed an hour and 35 minutes to knockout the Frenchwoman.
Minnen faced eight break points in the match and she saved all of them. In contrast, she held 7 break points and converted four of them to top the world no. 98.
With the win, Minnen is now 52-16 across levels in 2023. She reached two WTA 125 finals and four ITF finals this season. While she lost both of the Challenger finals, she won two of the four ITF finals.
She is 10-2 from her last 12 matches, all played on hard courts. It will be interesting to see if she can reach her first tour level quarterfinal of the season.

Dart Ousts Niemeier
World no. 155 Harriett Dart carried her qualifying round form into the main draw as she ousted Jule Niemeier in straight sets on Tuesday.
The 27-year-old British player won 95% points on the back of her first serve. However she got just 48% of first serves correct.
She was broken once by Niemeier in the match, while she converted 5 of 11 break points to win the one hour and 18 minute contest 6-3, 6-2.
Dart, had also won her qualifying matches in straight sets, beating Xun Fangying and Valeria Savinykh respectively.
With the three wins, Dart is now 27-27 across levels this year. The Nottingham and Birmingham quarterfinalist will be aiming to reach her third quarterfinal of the season on Wednesday.

Minnen has been in excellent form throughout the season, but most of her wins have come in the lower level tournaments. Despite that she will be the favourite to win this match and advance.
