Diego Schwartzman v Alex Bolt Head to Head

The pair have never played each other before. This will be the first match between Schwartzman, who is 31, and Bolt, a year his junior.

Schwartzman’s Fall from Excellence

This has been a season to forget for Schwartzman.

The Argentine has seen his world ranking plummet, and he has now dropped out of the top 100.

It has been a dramatic fall from grace for a man, who just three years ago, was a top ten player.

His four career titles, and ten other final appearances must seem like a distant memory.

The last time that he won a main draw match was in Wimbledon, where he reached the second round.

Since then even winning a set has been a big achievement, and was more than he managed in his last match, a straight sets defeat in the first round of the US Open to Arthur Rinderknech of France.

Australian Qualifier Bolt

Bolt has had a long career on the junior tours, although he did take a career break in the middle of it.

He has won three Challenger and six ITF titles, including two earlier this year in the Dominican Republic and the USA.

And he also qualified for his home Grand Slam in Australia, although he was beaten in the first round.

His last main draw appearance was in Newport Beach where he came through qualifying before losing to the now retired John Isner.

However, he has earned his chance against Schwartzman with a straight sets victory over Lorenzo Giustino of Italy, the world number 281, in the qualifying competition.

Schwartzman v Bolt Prediction and Tip

Whilst Schwartzman would normally be expected to win easily, such has been his form this year that even his most ardent supporters would not feel totally confident in backing him.

However, if he can find some shreds of his lost form, he should prevail.

Tips:

  • Low Risk Tip: Schwartzman to win: 7/9 (with bet365)
  • Moderate Risk Tip: Under 26.5 games in the match: 5/4 (with bet365)
