Caroline Garcia v Victoria Azarenka Head to Head

There have been four previous meetings between these two players and Garcia leads 3-1. On hardcourts, it’s 2-1 in her favour while they also faced on grass once in 2019.

They haven’t played since 2020 though.

Garcia Makes it Two in Two with Hailey Win

With Garcia’s form the way it is, every win counts for her and having clinched back to back victories in this tournament so far, she would be rather relieved.

Especially after having fallen a set behind in the first round against Aliaksandra Sasnovich, in a match that saw a second set tie-breaker before Garcia came back to win it. Her second round win over Hailey Baptiste was managed in two sets but it wasn’t as straightforward as a recent world number four would have liked.

Garcia was on court for an hour and 33 minutes and dropped her serve twice in her 7-5, 6-4 win over Baptiste.

She grabbed a 3-0 lead, was broken in the seventh game but off the first set-point she got in the 12th game of the opening set, Garcia grabbed the lead.

It was Baptiste who drew first blood with a break of serve in the very first game of the second set but from that point onward, Garcia moved back into pole position and broke yet again as her opponent served to stay in the match.

Against Azarenka, however, Garcia will need to improve a lot as can be evidenced from bet365‘s 6/4 offer for her win.

Azarenka Routs Kudermetova

Veronika Kudermetova isn’t at her best in recent times but not too many expected Azarenka to come out in the manner as she did to topple her Russian opponent.

Having registered straight-set wins over Robin Montgomery and Dayana Yastremska before this, Azarenka dropped just three games in her hour and 43 minutes long encounter.

After saving four break-points in the very first game of the encounter, Azarenka quickly regrouped to break Kudermetova twice and scoop up the set with ease. In the second, Kudermetova actually managed to break her opponent in the opening game but what followed was an absolute carnage.

Azarenka broke back in a long second game and from that point onward, added two more breaks of serves. In turn, she lost just three more points on her own serve to finish off the encounter.

The kind of form that Azarenka has shown it’s no surprise she starts off an 8/15 favourite at bet365 in this encounter.

Garcia v Azarenka Prediction and Tip

Garcia might be higher in the ranking but as far as form goes, there’s nothing to suggest that Azarenka should have too much trouble. Could even end in two.

Tips:

  • Low Risk Tip: Azarenka to win: 8/15 (with bet365)
  • Moderate Risk Tip: Azarenka to win in straight sets: 11/8 (with bet365)
