Karen Khachanov v Mackenzie McDonald Head to Head
There have been three previous meetings between these two and Khachanov has won every single time.

Three months and 18 days. That’s the amount of time that Khachanov had to wait before finally winning a competitive tennis match at the highest level.
And he did so in straight sets, defeating Alex Bolt 6-4, 6-4 to make it to the quarterfinals.
Khachanov, who had found some great rhythm over most part of this year – so much so that he started winning matches on clay and made the quarterfinals at the French Open – was rudely interrupted in his footsteps when he ended up injuring himself.
And as a result of that, and an aborted comeback or two, he only featured in his first match since that French Open foray at the US Open. Khachanov had lost the opener there, going down in straight sets to Michael Mmoh.
Against Bolt, Khachanov struggled with his serve as he faced 10 break-points but credit where it’s due – he managed to save all of them. In turn he got the better of McDonald’s serve on two occasions to clinch his place in the last eight.
He is a slight favourite here with bet365 offering 5/6 for his win.

McDonald Stretched to Three Sets Again
Despite being a whopping 1/4 favourite with bet365 to win his second round match against Kimmer Coppejans, McDonald was made to huff and puff for his victory.
After having needed three sets in his opener against Jungcheng Shang, McDonald came back from a set down to overcome the 186th-ranked Coppejans and seal his place in the quarterfinals.
McDonald was on court for two hours and 10 minutes and was broken twice in the encounter – both of which came in the first set where he frittered away a 4-1 lead to lose it 6-4. And while he retaliated to win the next two 6-3, 6-2, he would be worried with his finishing inabilities.
That’s because he had a stunning 16 break-points to his name and converted just four of them.
And while Khachanov is still finding his feet back, there were enough signs in his own opener that he could put McDonald to sword if the American continues to allow opponents to get away at crucial moments.
McDonald is 10/11 (at bet365) to win this.
Khachanov v McDonald Prediction and Tip
Khachanov might be slightly under-cooked but he looks to have shrugged off his rustiness. We can expect him to carry some of his old form forward, more so against a player who has a 0-3 record against him.
