Casper Ruud v Taylor Fritz Preview & Prediction

World number nine Casper Ruud will face the eighth-ranked Taylor Fritz in what will be a repeat of their ATP Finals 2022 match. That was won by Ruud, but he had needed a final set tie-breaker to get past his American opponent.

Team Europe are precariously poised and this match, like the rest of the singles matches to be played today will only happen if Team Europe can find a way to win their doubles match of the day. That being said, Ruud himself hasn’t been in the best of form this season as his hardcourt record of 8-9 for the year suggests.

This includes a win over Tommy Paul at this very competition on Saturday.

On the other hand, Fritz didn’t just send Andrey Rublev packing in their singles match here, he is also coming off a quarterfinal appearance at the US Open earlier this month.

Fritz’s form makes him a huge favourite and even if Team Europe does end up winning their doubles tie, the result could well be decided here.

Andrey Rublev v Frances Tiafoe Preview & Prediction

World number 11 Frances Tiafoe enters this match with an edge over the sixth-ranked Andrey Rublev having beaten him twice in three matches with all of those having come in hardcourt competitions.

What makes this even more difficult for Rublev is that he is coming off a straight-set loss at the hands of Taylor Fritz in his first match here. Bookmakers had pegged Rublev as a favourite in that one with the Russian starting out 4/5 to win it after having made the quarterfinal at the US Open recently too.

Tiafoe, on the other hand, was coming off successive defeats in the Davis Cup, bowing out to Borna Gojo and Tallon Griekspoor but he had also made the quarterfinal at the US Open before that.

And he made it past Hubert Hurkacz in straight sets in the Laver Cup to add to Team World’s tally.

We can expect a tough encounter here that goes into a third set.

Hubert Hurkacz v Felix Auger-Aliassime Preview & Prediction

World number 14 Felix Auger-Aliassime might have a 2-1 winning record against Hubert Hurkacz but it’s not like form has been his greatest ally in recent times. In fact, anything but that is true.

Which is why he would have felt a bit of a relief when Auger-Aliassime was drawn to play Gael Monfils in his match here, an opponent ranked outside the top 100. The Canadian got through in straight sets to notch up a rare recent times.

On the other hand, Hurkacz went down to Frances Tiafoe in his first match here after a second round loss at the US Open. Overall, however, Hurkacz had a 16-9 hardcourt record for the season and we won’t be surprised if he can tackle the struggling Auger-Aliassime in this one.
