A quarterfinalist in 2021, Laslo Djere comes into the tournament with a 32-22 season record at the tour level and 35-25 record across levels.
Djere has been in fine form throughout the year. His best came in Hamburg, where he went on to reach a fifth ATP final, but could not win a third title, finishing runner-up to Alexander Zverev.
The 28-year-old was also a semifinalist in Kitzbuhel and reached the last eight stage in Auckland, Santiago, Banja Luka and Winston-Salem.
Djere, who squandered a two-set-to-love lead against Novak Djokovic in the third round of the US Open, most recently featured in the Davis Cup, where he won two and lost 1.
Djere also reached a 12th Challenger final this year, but went down to Ugo Humbert in the Cagliari final.
He is 2-2 at the Astana Open. After falling in the quarterfinals in 2021, he lost in the opening round last year.

Medjedovic Handed a Wild Card
World no. 120 Hamad Medjedovic has been handed a wild card for the tournament.
The Serbian has a 4-5 record at the tour level this year and is 39-18 across levels. His recent form has been very good as he comes into the tournament as the champion of the Mallorca Challenger played earlier this month.
Medjedovic reached his maiden ATP semifinal this year in Gstaad, where he had qualified for the main draw.
He won two more Challenger titles this year, both of which were on clay.
Medjedovic had started the season at no. 255, but thanks to his consistency, he has climbed to a career high of no. 120. He will be desperate to keep moving up with a solid showing in Kazakhstan.
