Sorana Cirstea v Katerina Siniakova Head to Head
The pair have played four times before, and Cirstea has won on every occasion, and surface. She won on grass at Eastbourne in 2017, and on the clay of Madrid the following year. Then she won on hard courts, outdoors at the 2019 US Open, and indoors in Dubai in 2020.

Having reached the last eight at the US Open, her first Grand Slam quarter-final since 2009, Cirstea has given her season a real boost, and that helped her be seeded three for this tournament.
That status, though, came under real threat in her first round match with the American, Claire Liu, and she will be glad to have survived to fight another day.
After the pair swapped breaks early, Cirstea had to fend off a break point, before Liu herself saved a break point.
It proved just a temporary reprieve, though, as Cirstea broke her in her next service game to claim the first set.
When she broke Liu early in the second set, the Romanian must have thought she had done the hard work. Liu, though, had other ideas, broke back, broke once more and suddenly it was all square.
When Cirstea was broken at the start of the third set, things began to look bleak for the Romanian.
Fortunately for her, she was able to regroup, and she reeled off four straight games to win the match.
It had been a closer call than she would have liked.

Siniakova Eases Past American
Siniakova is much better known as a doubles player, and with regular partner Barbora Krejcikova, she has completed the Super Slam (winning all four Grand Slam titles).
However, she has also won four singles titles, and showed some of the form that brought her those successes in her first round match with the American, Elizabeth Mandlik, the world number 142.
The first set was completely one sided, as Siniakova breezed through it without dropping a game, Mandlik struggling to lay a glove on her.
The second set, though, was another matter entirely, even though Mandlik found herself a break down after the first three games went against serve.
She hit back, and, for a brief few minutes, they were on level terms. But then the American undid all her own hard work by dropping her serve once more.
Siniakova was able to serve out for the victory.
Cirstea v Siniakova Prediction and Tip
Given the history of previous matches between these two, Siniakova is very much the underdog. She will be hoping that it is about time she won one of these matches against the Romanian.
