Lucia Bronzetti looks very much on a roll right now, as the Italian is playing some really solid tennis lately. She’s up to 28 wins this year, which looks a lot better than the score she had months ago when she had more losses than wins.
This week in Ningbo has been solid, with two good wins. The first one came over Jil Teichmann in straight sets, and the second one over Kateryna Baindl was another straight-sets win. Bronzetti likes to play aggressive tennis, but consistency has been an issue for her.
She’s finding the lines and court much more consistently, and surprise surprise, she’s winning more. The next matchup is certainly a winnable one as well, and getting to a semi-final would be really good for her.
She’s beaten Fruhvirtova in their only match so far, so she should be confident. Having won matches in straight sets speaks well to her fatigue level as well.

Fruhvirtova Battles Past Blinkova
Fruhvritova beating Blinkova was a minor surprise, if I’m being honest, because the Russian was expected to outlast the younger Czech player, but the opposite actually happened. Fruhvirtova was the underdog in the first match as well but was lucky with a retirement there.
Overall it’s just been a lot of things going really right for the Czech player, and I’m not sure that will happen in this next match. She didn’t do that well against Bronzetti the last time they played, and while she’s a better player now, the Italian is, too.
Bronzetti will try to overwhelm her from the baseline, though Fruhvirtova has some skills from the baseline as well. We’ll see if she can find a good enough level to combat the Italian, but I’d expect her to struggle.
I just don’t see her having the same power as Bronzetti, and in these conditions, that matters.
