Linda Fruhvirtova v Diana Shnaider Head to Head

Fruhvirtova and Shnaider have never faced off in a competitive match before this.

Fruhvirtova Crushes Bronzetti

It looks like Fruhvirtova’s rhythm is back and how.

Before the start of this tournament, the Czech player, who had come into her own last year when she won the Chennai Open title as a teenager, had lost nine matches in a row.

Which is why there wasn’t too much expected of Fruhvirtova. Which is also why in each of her first three rounds here, she had gone in as a second favourite.

She was 21/10 against Rebeka Masarova, 8/5 odds to overcome Anna Blinkova and 7/5 against Lucia Bronzetti. And in each of these matches, she has gotten better and better, showing more and more rhythm in her play.

As things stand, Fruhvirtova has made it this far, to the semifinal on the back of a 6-0, 6-3 rout of Bronzetti in a match that lasted a mere hour and 17 minutes. She lost her serve once in the second set, but broke right back to maintain her advantage before closing out the match.

Fruhvirtova starts off a favourite here with bet365 offering 8/11 for her win.

Shnaider Stuns Kvitova

Shnaider had gone into her first two matches here as a favourite. And while she took three sets to edge past Zhouxuan Bai in the first round, a straight-set drubbing of Kamila Rakhimova set her up for her quarterfinal against Petra Kvitova.

Kvitova was not just a favourite to beat Shnaider, she was one by some distance with bet365 offering 1/5 for her win. To go with that, she was also a favourite to win the title here.

Instead, it was Shnaider who had the last laugh, overcoming her opponent in three sets to set up a semifinal meeting with Fruhvirtova.

In a match lasting over two hours, Shnaider broke Kvitova six times to clinch a 6-1, 4-6, 6-3 win over her more-fancied opponent. By reaching the semifinal, Shnaider would have broken into the top 70 of the rankings for the first time in her career.

Another victory will take her to her maiden WTA final and a place close to the top 60 as well. She is 13/10 (with bet365) to clinch that.

Fruhvirtova v Shnaider Prediction and Tip

While Fruhvirtova is a favourite on account of her experience, we wouldn’t be surprised if Shnaider finds a way to get past her opponent and wins this in three.
