Jabeur Comes in as Ningbo Open Champion
World no. 7 Ons Jabeur handed Diana Shnaider a 6-2, 6-1 drubbing in the final of the Ningbo Open on Saturday to lift her second title of the season and a fifth overall.
The Tunisian, who has featured in 13 finals over her career, had won the Charleston Open earlier this year.
She also reached a second straight final at Wimbledon this year, but yet again failed to win the title, falling to Marketa Vondrousova in the final.
Jabeur is 33-14 across levels this year. She will be making her second appearance in Beijing. On her debut in 2018, she had gone down in the second round.
The Tunisian will look to carry the momentum from the Ningbo Open and make a brisk start in Beijing.

Krueger Qualifies for Main Draw
Ashlyn Krueger edged out Lucia Bronzetti in the second qualifying round on Saturday to enter the main draw of the China Open for the first time in her career.
The 19-year-old saved 8 of 15 break points and converted 8 pf 16 to beat the Italian 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 in a two hour and 35 minute contest.
Krueger had won her first qualifying round in straight sets, beating Germany’s Tamara Korpatsch 7-6, 6-1.
Ranked no. 75th in the world, the American is coming off a brilliant September, when she won her maiden WTA title in Osaka by beating Lin Zhu in what was her first ever WTA final.
Krueger, who also won a WTA 125 title in Gaiba, Italy, is 42-23 across levels this year and 25-13 on hard courts.
