Wawrinka in a Long Loss to Giron
After having made the third round of the US Open, Wawrinka participated in the Davis Cup where he won and lost one match apiece. This was followed by his return to indoor tennis as he took part in the Astana Open last week.
Unfortunately for Wawrinka that did not go too well for him as he fell in the very first round to Marcos Giron despite having started out an 11/20 favourite with bet365.
The good news, if there ever is one from a match one’s lost, was that Wawrinka had managed to come away unscathed fitness-wise from a three-set match that saw three tie-breakers.
That being said, Wawrinka hasn’t quite enjoyed playing indoors as compared to the other surfaces, having made the semifinal of an indoor hardcourt ATP 1000 event just once in his career.

Lajovic Falls in Beijing Qualifier
Lajovic looked to have started off the North American hardcourt swing rather well, making the third round of the Cincinnati Masters in August.
An injury in that match against Taylor Fritz, however, looks to have pegged the Serb back a bit.
He then featured in the US Open after that and lost a five-setter to Wu Yibing, ended with a 1-1 win-loss in the Davis Cup and fell in the second round of the Chengdu Open where it was Jordan Thompson who ended his stay.
Looking to turn things around at the China Open, Lajovic was hit by another poor result as Yannick Hanfmann ended his campaign before it even properly began, beating him in the qualifiers.
Can he now overturn his poor form and an overall underwhelming record indoors to overcome Wawrinka?
