Korda Needs Three Tie-Breakers against Medjedovic
It took Korda two hours and 49 minutes and three tie-breakers to go with it to overcome his Serbian opponent Hamad Medjedovic in the semifinal, enabling him his first entry into the title-decider of an event since the Adelaide International in January.
Since then, he had made it to three other semifinals but it wasn’t till October, today, when he finally got that elusive win which took him to the final.
And what a match it was too!
There were no breaks of serves in it, with the two players winning 88 and 87 points respectively on their serves. Korda missed two set-points in the first tie-breaker but in the next two that followed, he made the most of the chances he got in them.
He will now start a favourite to win his second career ATP title but up against him is an experienced warhorse who has already won a tournament this year.

Mannarino Tames Ofner
In a sharp contrast to the Korda semifinal, Mannarino’s match lasted a mere hour and 11 minutes before he came through 6-4, 6-2 in the semifinal against Sebastian Ofner.
Mannarino was off to a slow start as he dropped his serve in the sixth game to fall 2-4 down but from that point onward turned things around quite quickly.
He broke right back and added a second one to his name in the first set before breaking Ofner two more times in the second set to clinch his third final of the season. The Frenchman has already won one title which came on the grass courts of Newport, having lost to Christopher Eubanks in Mallorca.
What needs to be seen here though is that Mannarino’s record in outdoor hardcourt competitions this season hasn’t been the best. He is 14-12 at the moment on them but indoors, it’s a whopping 6-1. Faster courts have suited him like was the case on grass and that’s where he could make things difficult for Korda.
Korda v Mannarino Prediction and Tip
Korda might be the bookmakers’ favourite but we will need to look at Mannarino’s record on quicker courts this season. The Frenchman has a good chance of going toe to toe with his opponent here and we could see another longish one.
