James Duckworth isn’t having the best season of his life, nor is he playing tennis on a level he used to before, but he did really well to qualify for the main draw of this event. He faced tricky opponents who have been playing in Asia for over a month and bested both in straight sets, which is notable.
His record this year is 42-26, a pretty solid one, with the majority coming on hard courts. He’s a typical Australian player with a solid serve and good baseline play. He doesn’t have too much variety but never needs to have it to be successful.
