Francisco Cerundolo v Mackenzie McDonald Match Winning Odds*

Cerundolo v McDonald Prediction and Tip

McDonald’s form and his superior game on a hardcourt surface makes him an overwhelming favourite to win this. At 3/4, those are tempting odds to consider for his win.

Tips & Odds*:

Cerundolo v McDonald Head to Head

Their only previous meeting came on the grass courts of Eastbourne earlier this year. Cerundolo had won that semifinal in a hard-fought three-setter.

Cerundolo Game Needs Re-Tweaking Outside of Clay

Cerundolo won his singles matches at the Davis Cup and Laver Cup recently but as far as his performances outside of clay are concerned, his more recent form might be a bit of a worry.

Since winning the Eastbourne title in June – where he had beaten McDonald en route the final – Cerundolo hasn’t done too much of note on non-clay surfaces. He was knocked out of Wimbledon in the second round and in the three North American hardcourt swing tournaments he featured in, the Argentine won just two matches.

This includes a second round appearance at the US Open where he was sent packing by the 33/10 underdog Jiri Vesely.

A win against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the Laver Cup will give him some confidence given the surface on which it came but against an in-form McDonald he will need more than just that to come away a winner.

McDonald Eases Through against Moutet

Corentin Moutet has been in a rather appalling run of form and McDonald took full advantage of that in the first round of the Shanghai Masters.

Entering the match as a 3/10 favourite to win, McDonald lived every bit to those odds as he carved out a 6-2, 6-3 victory over his French opponent. The match lasted a mere hour and 12 minutes in the end.

In the very first game of the encounter, McDonald faced some trouble holding on to his serve as Moutet earned four chances to break him. McDonald saved them all though and from that point onward, lost a total of nine points on his own serve.

He broke Moutet twice in the first set and once in the second to ease through to a win.

This win gets McDonald up a rank to 38th at the moment, his career-best, and if he can find himself another couple of good performances in the rest of the season, he could well be looking at a top 30 finish to the year.
