Carlos Alcaraz v Gregoire Barrere Match Winning Odds*

Alcaraz v Barrere Prediction and Tip

This should be a fairly straightforward win for Alcaraz as he sets himself up for the sterner, later rounds in his first ATP 1000 Masters event in China. Expecting a straight-set knockout.

Tips & Odds*:

Alcaraz v Barrere Head to Head

Alcaraz and Barrere haven’t faced off before this.

Alcaraz Coming off Sinner Defeat

Alcaraz has a Jannik Sinner problem by the looks of things as he fell to another loss at the hands of the Italian number one in the China Open semifinal earlier this week. That being said, his most current challenge in the second round in Shanghai isn’t anywhere close to the kind of quality that Sinner has to offer.

The Spaniard will hope he can shrug off that Sinner defeat and not let him affect him as he looks to finish the season on a high.

What’s interesting to note is that despite winning six titles this year, Alcaraz has clinched just one of them in a hardcourt tournament, making it a record he would want to turn around.

First up here after getting an opening bye is a player who has never been ranked better than 49th in the world and has won just eight of his 20 matches on hardcourts this season.

Barrere Eases Past Borges

Barrere had gone into his opener against Nuno Borges as a minor, 4/5 favourite but the win came rather easily for the Frenchman.

In a match that lasted a mere hour and three minutes, Barrere clinched a 6-2, 6-2 win as he marched into the second round of a hardcourt Masters 1000 tournament for just the second time in his career.

Borges did earn seven breaking opportunities in the encounter but Barrere managed to save them all while in turn getting past his opponent’s serve on four of the six times he had a chance to.

Things will get exponentially that much harder for Barrere here now that he faces the world number two but the question is if he can put up some fight and make it a challenge for Alcaraz.
