With the conclusion of the first Grand Slam of the calendar, many of the top seeded players will look to have some time off this week, however there are still three tournaments happening.

For the men, its just one tournament this week, the ATP 250 Open Sud de France in Montpellier. Whilst for the women, two tournaments take place: The newly upgraded WTA500 Linz Open, and the WTA250 Thailand Open.
Players In-Form
The tournaments have drawn in some big names, and here are the inform players to looking to light up the court in the next few days.
Wang Qiang
A few months ago, many believed that the former world No 12 had finished her career in tennis. Hampered by injuries and having not played a match in 15 months, it looked like her best tennis was firmly behind her.
However, the 31-year-old made a shock return over the off season and managed to win in Macao on her return.
She may have only Qualified to the Thailand Open by replacing Egyptian Mayar Sherif, but the former Chinese No 1 will look to this tournament to kickstart a successful campaign, and she could make a real dent in this competition.
Elina Svitolina
The Ukranian has had a brilliant return since her hiatus and will only be looking at the title at the Linz open after a brilliant 2023 season.
She began 2024 in similar fashion, reaching the Round of 16 at the Australian Open, looking one of the favorites for the competition until retiring with a back injury.
That has casted some doubt on if the World No 23 will compete at the newly upgraded Austrian tournament, but as of now the Ukrainian looks set to participate.
She will look to continue winning ways if she can in Linz, and with a very good lineup for the competition, it will be some exciting tennis on show should she participate.
Felix Auger-Aliassime
The Canadian has really struggled over the last 12 months, struggling to even get past a first round grand slam.
But, the 23 year old has a history on the hard courts, and he proved that again with a decent Australian Open, where he bravely fought against No 3 Daniil Medvedev in the third round before ultimately being eliminated.
He will be looking for a 6th career title in Montpellier and will definitely back himself against what seems to be an out of form seeded list.
One thing is for sure, the former world No. 6 will provide entertainment and is always one to watch whatever the form sheet looks like.
Players Out of Form
Marketa Vondrousova
The Wimbledon champion will want to put the start of the season firmly behind her after a very poor Australian Open which saw her thrashed by Qualifier Dayana Yastremska.
She still goes into Linz as the top seed and will look to kickstart her tour in Austria and get her form back to what it was in the second half of last year.
Its fair to say the 24-year-old has had a rollercoaster ride of a career so far and is not a stranger to dramatic changes in form throughout seasons, and the World No.7 will have the benefit of a longer rest from other higher seeds that made the second week in Melbourne.
Marketa will have to work hard to prove the title of top seed in Austria, and an upset early on could be on the horizon for the shock Wimbledon winner.
Alexander Bublik
The Kazakh grabbed headlines in 2023 for his showmanship and his lack of sportsmanship, and Bubliks frustrating 2023 US Open has bled into 2024.
After a promising showing at the Adelaide Open, reaching the semifinals, the 31st seed at the Australian Open lost in the first round in straight sets.
The 26-year-old does have pedigree at this competition, winning it two years ago, and with a seeded list showing out of form players across the board, he will hope this is where he can show off his undeniable talent and entertain whilst doing it.
Holger Rune
Similarly to Bublik, Holger Rune started the season in good form, reaching the final of the Brisbane Open, but then fell flat in the grand slam, reaching just the second round, the only top 10 seeded player to not reach the fourth round.
The Dane has come under fire from Boris Becker, his own coach, recently too. With the Tennis legend questioning his mentality after a ranting spectacle in his four set loss to Arthur Cazaux.
He’s the top seed in this tournament by a large margin, and he’ll be hoping to replicate last year’s top seed Jannick Sinner’s triumph, and in doing so, get back on track in the season.
Week 5 looks to be a great opportunity for underperforming players, and returning ones, to really set down a marker following the first grand slam. And with some great underdog stories in the mix, this week certainly looks to be an exciting comedown from the Australian Open.
