Petra Kvitova v Sofia Kenin Head to Head
The two ladies have met only once on the tour, back in the Miami Open last year. The Czech won that match after losing the first set with 3-6, 6-2, 6-4.
Kvitova Looking Clinical and Confident
It is fair to say that Kvitova’s performance this season has been nothing short of pure brilliance. With a win-loss record of 25-6 and two singles titles, she is now the World No. 2. It is only a matter of time before Kvitova moves up in the ranking and becomes the top player in the world.
She started her clay season with a winning run in the Stuttgart Open a couple of weeks back. She defeated Kiki Bertens and Anett Kontaveit in the final few rounds to lift her fifth title on clay.
Earlier this year, Kvitova was also the winner at the Sydney International, which she followed with a runner-up feat in the Australian Open and WTA Dubai. There aren’t that many instances where we have seen the reigning Birmingham Classic champion make mistakes.
Barring a few defeats here and there, she has been pretty much on the top of her game this season. And now in the clay swing, which is where she is in her element, it is hard to imagine her falling here.
Kenin, A Worthy Competitor
The 20-year-old American has had a pretty remarkable season herself. She won the Hobart International earlier this year and later in Acapulco, she reached the final. In both the tournaments, she recorded victories over the likes of Caroline Garcia, Alize Cornet, Victoria Azarenka and Bianca Andreescu.
However, she hasn’t been in the best of form over the last few weeks. Following her early exits in Indian Wells and Miami, she played in Charleston where Kenin lost to Monica Puig in the second round.
Nonetheless, she has made great strides on the tour this season and is certainly a promising force on the circuit.
Kvitova v Kenin Predictions & Tips
This one is quite simple. Kvitova, given her massive momentum and form, will start this match as the favourite to win. She may be pushed to three sets but at the end of the day, she should come out on the top.
Tip: Kvitova to win 2-0: 8/15 (888Sport)
