Caroline Wozniacki v Danielle Collins Head to Head
The two players have met only once on the WTA Tour, in the last year’s French Open. Wozniacki won that meeting in straight sets.
A Poor Spell for the Dane
Wozniacki started the season as World No. 3 but on the back of a poor showing in the Australian Open series and injuries, she fell out of the top 10.
Her performance in Indian Wells and Miami was quite uneventful, losing to Ekaterina Alexandrova and Su-Wei Hsieh in the two events respectively. However, the reigning China Open champion had a good run in Charleston, where she lost in the final to Madison Keys.
The Dane played in Madrid last week, where she was handed a shock defeat at the hands of Alize Cornet. She will be keen on making amends for that loss in Rome but given Collins’ form this year, she has a tough job ahead of her.
Collins Seeking a Melbourne Re-Run
The 25-year-old American rose to prominence when she reached the semifinal in the Australian Open, after moving past Angelique Kerber and Caroline Garcia. While she ultimately fell to Petra Kvitova, it propelled her into the top 30.
However, following that win, Collins failed to maintain her consistency on the WTA Tour and was knocked out early in the Sunshine Doubles. Just like Wozniacki, she had a decent run in Charleston where she reached the quarterfinal.
In Madrid last week, she lost to Ashleigh Barty. To her name, Collins has zero WTA singles titles but she has four ITF titles, two of which came on clay.

Wozniacki will start this game as the favourite to win. However, neither of them have been in an exceptional form of late and it can very well go either way. Collins is a fierce competitor and has garnered winning experience against many top players on the WTA Tour.
Expect this to be a good game with a lot of quality tennis to be played.
