Simona Halep v Marketa Vondrousova Head to Head
The two players met earlier this year in the Indian Wells Open, where Halep was stunned by the 19-year-old Czech in the fourth round.
Halep Seeks to Make Amends for Madrid
The Romanian had a phenomenal run in Madrid last week, where she reached the final after a pretty superb run. She was on the brink of becoming World No. 1 again, but Kiki Bertens prevented that from happening.
In the final match, Halep lost to the Dutchwoman in straight sets and had to settle for her second runner-up trophy of the season. Nonetheless, she is in contention for the top place in the singles ranking again this week and the condition is the same as before – the current French Open champion needs to win the title.

Vondrousova Making Waves on the Tour
The young Czech has quickly risen to prominence on the WTA circuit this season. With the sole exception of the Australian Open, she has reached the quarterfinal and beyond in every other tournament she has played in.
Vondrousova was a runner-up in WTA Budapest and Istanbul, where she delivered some of the best wins of her career. Additionally, she also reached the quarterfinal in Indian Wells and Miami. Through this year, she has moved past the likes of Elise Mertens, Halep, Svetlana Kuznetsova, and Daria Kasatkina.
In Rome, she began her campaign with a three-set win over Barbora Strycova. Needless to mention, Vondrousova has already staked her claim as a force to be reckoned with and she can very well push Halep to the limit.
Halep v Vondrousova Predictions & Tips
On paper, Halep will start this match as the favourite to win. However, given that Vondrousova herself has been in a good form of late, she will certainly need to bring her best game here. The Czech has already stunned Halep once and she will fancy her chances of repeating that feat again.
