Felix Auger-Aliassime v Steve Johnson Head to Head

This is the first meeting between the two players on the ATP Tour.

Felix Continues to Shine

The young Canadian started his run in Lyon as the number four seed and so far, he has done a great job. Having enjoyed a bye into the second round, he moved past John Millman in straight sets to reach the quarterfinal.

Being a part of the top 30 at such a young, he has a bright future ahead of him. Earlier this year, he reached the semifinal in Miami as a qualifier. That run came shortly after he reached the final in ATP Rio, where he lost to Laslo Djere. It is also remarkable to note that he started the year outside the top 100.

As for his run in the recent weeks, he incurred a few early exits in Madrid and Rome albeit, they were at the hands of some prominent players like Rafael Nadal and Borna Coric.

Johnson Finds his Footing

Steve Johnson – 11 years elder to his Canadian counterpart, has finally had a good run this year. He started his journey in Lyon with a 6-2, 7-6(2) win over Llyod Harris and then defeated Pierre-Hugues Herbert in three sets.

This makes it the first time that Johnson reached the quarterfinal on the tour since his run in the ATP Delray Beach Open this season.

While Auger-Aliassime has something to show for, the same hasn’t been the case for the veteran American. In Madrid and Rome, he lost his opening matches – in the latter, he lost to a player ranked well in the 200s in three sets.

Johnson won a couple of titles last season but he hasn’t been able to maintain that same rhythm this time around.

Felix Auger-Aliassime v Steve Johnson Predictions & Tips

Felix will start this match as the favourite here, given his superior form over Johnson. However, the experience will play a part here but given the Canadian’s ability on clay, he should be able to reach the semifinal comfortably.

Tip: Under 22.5 games in the match: 9/10 (888Sport)
