Borna Coric v Lloyd Harris Head to Head
The two men have never played each other before – this will be the first match between the two twenty-two year olds.
Coric Ready to Progress Again
Whilst Coric does not have the best record in majors – his 4th round appearance in Melbourne earlier this year was the first time that he had reached that stage in any Grand Slam event – he has reached the third round on three out of the four occasions he has contested the Roland Garros title – and has an excellent chance of at least emulating that feat this time round.
He did not have things entirely his own way in his first round match with Aljaz Bedene, dropping the second set to the Slovenian. However, in the end, his superior serving ability, coupled with his return of serve, enabled him to close the match out in four sets.
Harris, Enjoyed Maiden Grand Slam Win
Harris, the only South African man in the main draw in Paris after Kevin Anderson was forced to withdraw through injury, is in unchartered territory having reached the second round of a Grand Slam event for the first time. He failed to qualify for this event last year, and although he did reach the first round at last year’s US Open, and again in Melbourne this January, he was beaten at the first time of asking on each occasion.
However, the man known as “The King” by his South African Davis Cup team mates, progressed through to this stage after coming from two sets to one down to beat veteran Czech Lukas Rosol on Monday.
Coric v Harris Predictions & Tips
Coric is the strong favourite to win at 9/1 on, whilst Bedene is priced at 7/1 against. Whilst Harris will have gained valuable experience in reaching the second round of a major, it would be a huge upset if he were to beat Coric on Thursday, although four sets might be involved..
Tip: Coric to win in four sets: 6/5 (888Sport)
