Kiki Bertens v Arantxa Rus Head to Head
The two ladies last met in Belgium back in 2015. Bertens won that one in straight sets.
Bertens Looking for Rhythm on Grass
Following what has been a fine performance by the Dutch No. 1 in the clay swing this season, she will be hoping for an equally remarkable run on the grass courts too.
Coming in strong after winning the Madrid Open and reaching the semifinal in Stuttgart and Rome, Bertens started her journey in the 2019 Rosmalen Grass Court Champions with an impressive win. The top seed defeated Johanna Larsson 6-3, 6-1, without any major difficulties.
Playing in her hometown in ‘S-Hertogenbosch, Bertens retired in the second round in the French Open due to a gastric illness. However, following her lethal performance over Larsson, she is definitely back to 100% again. She maintained her first service win rate against Larsson at well over 75%.
On the back of a strong service game and some determination, Kiki has broken all sorts of records this season. She made it to the top five and became the highest ranked female Dutch player ever.
Rus – Former Dutch No. 1, Looking for a Good Run
Arantxa Rus, at one point in time, was Dutch No. 2 but never really managed to leave a mark on the tour. With her biggest success being the fourth round run in the 2012 French Open, it is hard to imagine her upsetting someone as clinical as Bertens.
Rus has worked hard this season, restricting herself mainly on the ITF circuit. She won a couple of them back to back in the Italian town of Santa Margherita di Pula over a course of two weeks in April. Apart from this, the 28-year-old also reached the final in the Singapore ITF event.
In ‘S-Hertogenbosch, she started with a straight-set win over Bibiane Schoofs. With an impressive left forehand, she posed a lot of problems for Schoofs and can very well do the same to Bertens too.
Bertens v Rus Predictions & Tips
Bertens will start here as the favourite to win. However, this being the grass season, anything can happen. Expect this one to be an entertaining affair with both the players gunning to impress in front of their home crowd.
