Buzarnescu’s Struggles with her Form
With a win-loss record of 7-17, the year hasn’t been kind of the veteran Romanian. Her best run in the recent weeks came in the Italian Open where she reached the third round.
In fact, it took a while for Buzarnescu to open her win tally this season. She lost her opening games in five consecutive WTA events before landing her first win in the WTA Acapulco. Even then, she made it as far as the second round.
Nonetheless, the Romanian is a player of great calibre and made it to three finals on the tour last season. In one of them, she went the distance by winning the Bank of the West Classic Open in San Jose. A good win is all she needs to get out of this funk but that may be a big ask against someone like Pliskova.
