Ugo Humbert v Ilya Ivashka Head to Head
Humbert and Ivashka will meet for the first time on tour.
Humbert Had A Wimbledon To Remember
Ugo Humbert will take solace from the fact that he lost his Wimbledon fourth round match to the eventual champion Novak Djokovic. Twelve months ago the young Frenchman was ranked at No. 290 in the world and playing in an ITF Pro Circuit event in France. Since then he has won four ATP Challenger titles and soared up the rankings to a new career-high of No.48 courtesy of his big breakthrough at SW19.
The 21-year-old is not talked about as one of the leading members of the NextGen, but he has put together a remarkable rise in the last one year. His performances at Wimbledon which included wins over former Top 10 player Gael Monfils (albeit via a retirement) and fellow youngster Felix Auger-Aliassime were simply outstanding.
Humbert is equipped with an all-round game where his swinging left-handed serve is tailor-made for the grass. So it is not a real surprise to see him advance into the second week at Wimbledon for the first time in his career. The Frenchman has maintained his good form on the lawns as the ATP tour rounds off the grass-court season in the US. Humbert dismantled Ramkumar Ramanathan in his previous outing and will play for a spot in the semifinal against Ilya Ivashka.
Ivashka Does Possess A Game For Grass
Ilya Ivashka is a 25-year-old from Belarus who is currently ranked No. 141 in the world. Due to his low ranking, the man from Minsk has been largely competing at Challenger level for most part of his career and missed out on qualification at both French Open and Wimbledon in 2019.
Ivashka has not let the disappointment of his absence from the two Grand Slams affect him this week as he has been in excellent form.
Playing in his first grass-court event of the year, he took out Bernard Tomic – a player who can be notoriously dangerous on grass – in straight sets in his opening match, and then dominated American Christopher Eubanks in the Round of 16 with a clinical display of serving.
Humbert v Ivashka Predictions & Tips
Ugo Humbert is a strong favorite to win this match according to the bookies and rightly so. He is a fantastic talent and there is no doubt we will see him push for the top 20 in the not-too-distant future. He enjoys playing on grass and is a tough opposition for any player out there. I think he will sail past Ivashka quite comfortably.
Tip: Humbert to win in straight sets: 10/11 (888Sport)
