Naomi Osaka v Aliaksandra Sasnovich Head to Head
Osaka holds a formidable 3-0 lead over Sasnovich, last beating her in the Madrid Open earlier this season. That match saw the Japanese sail to a comfortable victory with 6-2, 6-3. She also defeated her in the third round of the US Open last season.
Osaka’s Decent Start to the US Open Series
Currently enjoying her time as World No. 1, Naomi Osaka started her preparations for her run in the Flushing Meadows on a decent note. Just last week in the Rogers Cup, she reached the quarterfinal where she fell to Serena Williams in straight sets.
Nonetheless, it was a confident performance from the 21-year-old Japanese, who seems to be maturing with every game she plays. Even though she hasn’t won a singles title since the Australian Open at the start of the season, she has done a terrific job of staying afloat in the top five.
But at the same time, there has been a gradual decline in her form. Before finding her groove in Toronto, Osaka struggled significantly to move past the early rounds – particularly in Roland Garros, Birmingham, and Wimbledon. Despite this, she holds a win-loss tally of 24-9.

A Landmark Win for Sasnovich
The 25-year-old Belarusian defeated Astra Sharma in the opener in Cincinnati in three sets. While on any other day that would have marked an average win for Sasnovich, this one particularly was a big moment.
That win against Sharma was her first win on the WTA Tour since the Madrid Open. In other words, she went through seven tournaments without a win before finally having a breakthrough here.
However, it is to be seen how far she can go, especially when she faces a strong player like Osaka. To her name, Sasnovich has only two singles finals without a lot to show for.
Osaka v Sasnovich Prediction & Tips
Unless Osaka has taken that defeat to Serena to her heart, she should have no difficulties in dispatching Sasnovich here in straight sets. At the most, we may see her fight for three sets but that is something that is quite unlikely.
Tip: Total sets under 2.5: 1.42 (888Sport)
