Novak Djokovic v Lucas Pouille Head to Head

The two players have met once, which was earlier this year at the Australian Open semi-finals. Djokovic won that very convincingly in straight sets, only dropping four games in the match.

Djokovic Looking At Back-To- Back Cincinnati Titles

Defending champion Novak Djokovic in his first tournament after his epic Wimbledon final against Roger Federer, began his campaign looking a little rusty early on in his opener against American Sam Querrey.

Before too long, the Serb was back to his routine game defeating Querrey in straight sets and then following it up with a commanding win over Pablo Carreno Busta in the third round.

Djokovic was in the same half of the draw as Roger Federer, and they were scheduled to potentially meet in the semi-finals. But the early Federer loss, coupled with several other seeded players crashing out already has left the Serb as a strong favorite for the title.

Pouille In Search of Consistency

Lucas Pouille was a promising talent in 2016 and ranked world number 10 in early 2018. But, he has had indifferent form through the latter part of 2018 and parts of this season. He is currently ranked 27th in the world.

The Frenchman started the year with an impressive showing at the Australian Open, being semi-finalist before losing to eventual champion Novak Djokovic. However, he followed it with five first round losses in the tournaments to follow.

Pouille made the third round at Wimbledon before losing to Roger Federer and has again had a decent run this week, most recently defeating top ten player Karen Khachanov in the third round in Cincinnati.

With oodles of natural talent, Pouille has a powerful forehand, as good as any on the circuit. He is also a natural volleyer and has had to rely on that against several counter-punchers.

Novak Djokovic v Lucas Pouille Predictions & Tips

Pouille is a dangerous proposition when in form and has a naturally attacking game that can trouble most when dialed in. However, he is up against Novak Djokovic who in recent times has looked untroubled on all surface and against all oppositions.

Expect an attacking level of play from both players with Djokovic looking for some more confidence, ahead of the title run weekend. Pouille to bring his A game, but all too little for the Serb, who can be expected to win in straight sets.

Tip: Games Handicap – Lucas Pouille +5: 93/100 (888Sport)
