Angelique Kerber v Kristina Mladenovic Head to Head
Kerber holds a 4-1 lead over Mladenovic, last beating her in 2018 China Open. All of Kerber’s victories over the Frenchwoman have come on hard courts through the years.
Kerber in Desperate Need of Spark
The number 14 seed Angelique Kerber rose to prominence in 2016 when she won the Australian Open and US Open, thus becoming World No. 1. But now, the 31-year-old appears to be a drastic rut with a kind of tennis completely opposite to what took her to glory.
With just one win in her last three WTA tournaments on the tour, Kerber has been struggling a lot of with her form. In the Rogers Cup and Cincinnati, she lost her opening round matches quite cheaply to Daria Kasatkina and Anett Kontaveit. In Wimbledon, where she was a favourite, she fell in the second round to Lauren Davis.
At the same time, not all has been dark for the German star. She had a good run at the start of the season when she reached the semifinal in Doha and the final in the Indian Wells Open. She had a similar run in Mallorca and Eastbourne as well.
While these performances kept her afloat in the top 10, the massive drop over the last few weeks completely took her out of the scene.

Mladenovic, with the Ability to Win
The 25-year-old Mladenovic is currently ranked No. 2 on the doubles circuit, courtesy of her doubles title with Timea Babos in the French Open. However, on the singles circuit, her form has been absolutely disastrous.
Similar to Kerber, she too has been struggling a lot with her momentum. And unlike the German who had some reprieve in a few big events, the same hasn’t been the case for Mladenovic. Among her best runs include reaching the quarterfinal in Istanbul, Monterrey, and the Italian Open, where she defeated Belinda Bencic, Ashleigh Barty, and Caroline Garcia.
Mladenovic had a similar run in Washington and Nottingham as well.
Kerber v Mladenovic Predictions & Tips
On any other day, Kerber would have started this match as the favourite but given her recent form, anything can happen. This won’t be an easy fixture for the German and Mladenovic, despite her poor results, has the ability to deliver big upsets. She has done so a couple of times already this season and Kerber may not prove to be an exception. This is going to be an incredible, entertaining match.
