Novak Djokovic v Roberto Carbellas Busta Preview & Tips:

This will be the first meeting between Djokovic and Busta but we all know how this one is headed. Djokovic last lost in a first round match at a Grand Slam was in 2006 and his worst performance at the US Open is a third round exit that very year.

His opponent Busta is more of a clay-court guy, ranked 79th in the world, which just points out to one thing – a crushing first round win for the world number one. Now, odds of 1/100 for a Djokovic make no sense to go for but the games handicap could be a more interesting market and our prediction for this match is around that one.

Djokovic v Busta Prediction: Games Handicap – Djokovic -11: 23/25 (888Sport)

Roger Federer v Sumit Nagal Preview & Tips:

This is a match of a great significance to a lot of Indians who don’t have a lot of international singles representation in the tennis world, but for Federer, this should be a business as usual. A straight-set win for the five-time champion will be par for the course here, and those odds of 1/41 for a Federer victory sound just like what the doctor ordered.

Even a straight-set win for the Wimbledon finalist against the first-time Grand Slam-mer provides mere 3/11 which is why, we go back to the games handicap for this one too.

Federer v Nagal Prediction: Games Handicap Federer -9.5: 17/20 (888Sport)

Serena Williams v Maria Sharapova Preview & Tips:

If the likes of Djokovic and Federer featuring on day one isn’t enough, we have a mouth-watering contest between Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova in the first round. Two arch-rivals, who have met 22 times before this, has Serena leading 19-3 but more importantly there is always that sense of upping a gear when she is playing Sharapova.

With a 24th Grand Slam title in sights, Serena will look to pound her way through to the next round and it shouldn’t be too tough for her to come away with a straight-set win against a player who has been plagued by injuries in recent times. A fourth round appearance at Australian Open is all what Sharapova’s got to show for her effort this year and this might be another one-sided defeat for her.

Serena v Sharapova Prediction: Serena to win in straight sets: 4/5 (888Sport)

Tomas Berdych v Jenson Brooksby Preview & Tips:

This will be the first ever match between two players who have an age-gap of 15 years between them. Berdych, at 33, is in the twilight of his career and would love to keep carrying on but has had fitness woes that has seen him fall from a career-best of fourth in the world to 98th right now.

His opponent is 18, with a singles ranking of 394 but will be supremely proud of his effort to make the main draw with three hard-fought wins in the qualifiers. Which is a big thing given he has barely played even in the Challengers circuit.

Berdych is an obvious favourite with odds of 1/4 for his win but we are looking at Brooksby to win at least one set in this one.

Berdych v Brooksby Prediction: Brooksby to win a set: 6/10 (888Sport)

Grigor Dimitrov v Andreas Seppi Preview & Tips:

Dimitrov might have fallen off the rail after being tipped to be one of the players to watch out for years but he shouldn’t have problems overcoming Seppi in this one. The bigger question is whether he can do that in straight sets and the answer to that might not be straightforward. Not expecting a straight-set win for sure.

Dimitrov v Seppi Prediction: Dimitrov to win in four sets: 31/10 (888Sport)
