Nikoloz Basilashvili v Dominik Koepfer Head to Head
These player have never played each other before on an ATP tour match and this will be the first meeting between the 27-year-old Georgian Basilashvili and the 25-year-old German, Koepfer.
Overcoming Fatigue Key for Basilashvili
Basilashvili is currently ranked 17th in the world and has won three ATP titles so far in his career with back to back titles at the German Open in 2018 & 2019 as well as the China Open in this year. After an average start to the season, his form picked up in the second half of the season, where apart from titles in Germany and China, he also reached the round of 16 at the Montreal Masters.
His record this year has been 24-18 but hard courts are his preferred surface and his best Grand Slam showing came at the flushing meadows last year where he reached the fourth round.
The Georgian is renowned for his mental strength and despite a modest first half of the season his performances in the second half of the season is a testimony to that, he saved two match points and was down and out in the final set tiebreaker at the German Open Semi-Final against Alexandar Zvernev.
Despite coming into the US Open on the back a disappointing first-round exit at the Cincinnatti Open he dug deep to win his first-round match against Fucsovics Marton in a match that went to five sets and lasted for close to four hours, again in the second round he overcame Jenson Brooksby in four sets.

Dominik Will Hope to Extend his Dream Run
A bit of a late bloomer, the German, 25-year-old made his ATP circuit debut in 2017 and is currently ranked at 118 in the world.
He has had a breakthrough year of sorts this season, he was outside the top 300 at the start of last season and this season he has won his maiden ATP Challenger at Ilkey Challenger in England which resulted in him getting his first Grand Slam appearance at this year’s Wimbledon, he won his first-round match against Filip Krajinović.
Since then he has been steady and reached the finals of the Aptos Challenger and has come through three qualifying round matches to get to the main draw of the US Open, he beat Jaume Munar and Reilly Opelka in the first and second-round matches respectively.
He won both the matches in straight sets and both the opponents were higher ranked than him. Regardless of the result, he will be breaking into the top 100 for the first time in his career on the back of his strong run this week.
Nikoloz Basilashvili v Dominik Koepfer Predictions & Tips
World number 18 vs a player who is outside the top 100 and has had to go through qualifying rounds to reach the main draw. This tie is a classic case of David vs Goliath, but Kopfer has had one extra day of rest to prepare for this game whereas Basilashvili has had less than a day to prepare for this match and also came two gruelling matches to reach the third round.
Both players rely on long rallies and baseline strokes. With the confidence of having had a solid run this week, Koepfer will try and stretch Basilashvili hoping that lack of recovery time & tiredness will be a factor.
I can see the match going into at least four sets.
Tip: Four sets in the match: 9/5 (888Sport)
