Elena Rybakina v Rebecca Peterson Preview:

This is the first meeting between Kazakh Rybakina and Peterson of Sweden, and with not much to separate the two on the basis of rankings either, it’s interesting to note that the odds are a fair way apart. Peterson starts off a heavy favourite here despite been ranked nine places below Rybakina’s 69th in the world.

It could be to do with the opposition that Peterson has come up against in the tournament so far and won. Magda Linette and Nina Stojanovic have both done well in recent times and Peterson has mixed her brilliance with some scrappy performance to come through to win both matches.

Rybakina was stretched to three sets by Ankita Raina in her opening round, and has then gone on to face two more such gruelling three-setters which might go against her for this final. And yet this has been her best showing on WTA hard court surfaces already this year with a qualifier exit at Cincinnati and a first round loss at the US Open before this.

With Peterson having disposed off better opponents in a more clinical manner and with Rybakina having come into this encounter having expended a lot more energy, looks like an easy win for the Swede in the offing here. Rybakina, who has already won one title this year – albeit on clay – to finish runner-up in all likelihood.

Rybakina v Peterson Tip: Peterson to win in strain sets: 6/4 (888Sport)
