Subsequent to battling with left wrist injury, after her blistering run at the French Open, Vondrousova reported that she is out for the remainder of the 2019 season in the wake of undergoing her medical procedure.

Vondrousova updated her fans through an Instagram post after her surgery captioning it, “Surgery done”.

She said:

“All went really good so I need to rest now. So season 2019 is over for me but cant wait to be back!”

The World No.22 had been knocking some people’s socks off this year before her injury, making it to the finals in Budapest, only the second WTA final of her career. She continued her glorious run of form by reaching the quarter finals of Premier Mandatory competitions at Indian Wells and Miami.

The Czech was clearly just getting started as she cruised to the finals in Istanbul and quarterfinals in Rome.

She burst on to the scene with a bang after powering through to her first ever Grand Slam final earlier this year at Roland Garros at the age of just 19.

En route to the final, Vondrousova crushed the 28th seed Carla Suarez Navarro, 12th seed Anastasija Sevastova, 31st seed Petra Martic and the 26th seeded Johanna Konta on the way to that final, where she fell to Ashleigh Barty.

Yet, not long after her illustrious display of tennis in Paris, Vondrousova was troubled by injury. She injured her left wrist whilst training for Wimbledon, and she has been away from action following her first round exit.

Vondrousova will now look to make a comeback at the start of 2020 season as she looks to recuperate from her surgery now.
