Nikoloz Basilashvili v Jo Wilfred Tsonga Head to Head
The pair have met twice before on tour with both winning one match each. Lyon Open was the event in both the cases with Tsonga winning in 2017 and Basilashvili avenging his loss one year later.
Basilashvili Hoping to Continue Solid Second Half
Currently ranked 16th in the world, the 27 year old Georgian has won three titles in his career with back to back titles at the German Cup in the last two years as well as the Beijing Open previous year. His start to the season was very inconsistent where apart from a couple of big wins against Andrey Rublev in Doha & Bautista Agut in Dubai, he suffered many early-round exits.
Known for his mental toughness & ability to grind out results from tough situations, Basilashvili has had a better second half of the season where he successfully defended the Hamburg Open, reached the round of 16 at the Montreal Open and now has reached the last eight for the third season running at Moselle Open.
His rankings haven’t suffered much despite not having a great year so far but he will soon have to defend his Beijing Open points and will be hoping to go deep here at Moselle Open and go further than his quarter-final appearance from last year.

Tsonga Looking to End Comeback Year on a High
Jo-Wilfred Tsonga was once the world number five and runners up at Australian Open. His stock was high between 2008 and 2014 where he won two ATP Masters and reached multiple Grand Slam semi-finals and winning 12 titles in total.
One of the most powerful serves in the game, offensive baseline strokes, classical serve and volley style and speed across the court made him a very formidable opponent. After an average 2016, he made a strong comeback and went on to win four titles in 2017, but after going under the knife for knee surgery in 2018, his rankings dropped out of top 250 before he could finally come back on tour.
