The American Isner came back from the loss of a first set tie-breaker to defeat Alexander Zverev 6-7, 6-4, 10-1 in the opening match of the day to level things off for Team World with the two-pointer.

Nick Kyrgios looked like he could bring Team World into the lead when he won the first set of his match against the Swiss maestro Federer. However, Federer came back to win the second with a late break and then won the Super Tiebreaker 10-7 to regain Europe’s two-point advantage over their opponents.

In a match that saw Kyrgios claim he was distracted because he saw a “hot chick in the crowd”, Federer needed to dig deep into his reserves to overcome his maverick opponent.

On the first day, Europe had taken a 3-1 lead over World, with wins for Dominic Thiem, Stefanos Tsitsipas and the doubles pairing of Federer and Zverev, while World’s sole point came through Jack Sock’s victory against Fabio Fognini.

In the remaining matches of the day, Rafael Nadal will play his first match of the competition when he takes on Canada’s Milos Raonic in their singles encounter. And this will be followed by the doubles match of the day which will see Nadal pair up with Stefanos Tsitsipas to play against Nick Kyrgios and Jack Sock.
