Petra Kvitova v Polona Hercog Head to Head
The two ladies have met only once on the tour, more than seven years back in the 2012 US Open. Kvitova won that game in straight sets.
Kvitova Starts the Asian Swing
This has been a whirlwind year for former World No. 2 Petra Kvitova, who reached the final in the Australian Open and WTA Dubai, along with winning the Sydney International and the Stuttgart Open.
At one point, she looked primed to become World No. 1 but that changed quickly in the clay swing, particularly in the build-up to the French Open. Following an average showing in Madrid, Rome, and Paris, the Czech fell out of the top five.
Then, in the US Open series, things got worse when a lingering arm injury forced to her take some time off the circuit. After missing the Rogers Cup, she returned to the action in Cincinnati but the subsequent loss in form took her out of the scene. She fell early in Cinci and the US Open, respectively to Maria Sakkari and Andrea Petkovic.
Kvitova won five singles titles last season and clearly needs no introduction to her abilities. All things considered, it is only a matter of time for her before she gets back to her winning ways and clinches another final spot.

Hercog, Hoping for a Lugano Re-Run
The 28-year-old Slovak won the Lugano Open in April this year and has been looking forward to repeating that feat once again this season. With a win-loss tally of 30-21, her chances are not that bad although, she will need to bring her A-game.
For instance, at Wimbledon, she defeated Madison Keys in the second round, marking one of her most impressive wins in this year. However, of late, she hasn’t looked that sharp as she fell quite early in the US Open and WTA Zhengzhou. She featured in Korea Open last week where she lost to Ana Bogdan in the opener.
As for her run in Wuhan, she began with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Jessica Pegula and that performance may be some cause of concern for Kvitova.
Kvitova v Hercog Tips & Predictions
Expect Kvitova to wrap this one up comfortably. She is well-rested, experienced, and hungry for wins. It will be good to see a clinical win from the Czech.
Tip: Under 20.5 games in the match: 17/20 (888Sport)
