Karolina Pliskova v Amanda Anisimova Head to Head
The two players have met only once on the tour, in the 2018 Indian Wells Open. Pliskova won that match in straight sets with 6-1, 7-6(2).
Pliskova, in an Imposing Form
With a win-loss tally of 49-13, Karolina Pliskova has proven herself to be one of the most consistent and dangerous players on the WTA Tour this season. Now, she has a chance to become World No. 1 in Wuhan.
With four singles titles – one on every surface, the Czech has been simply incredible on the whole. Following a rather average performance in the US Open series – a couple of quarterfinal feat in Cincinnati and Toronto, and the fourth-round run in New York, Pliskova arrived in Shenzhen to start her Asian swing.
On the back of a superb performance there, the number two seed ended up winning the title after defeating Petra Martic in the final in straight sets. Now, she looks like a prime favourite to do the same in Wuhan too. There have been only two or three tournaments this year where Pliskova never managed to move past the early rounds. With this kind of consistency, it will be difficult for anyone to defeat her, let alone Anisimova.

Anisimova, Back in the Fold
The last month may have been quite intense for the 18-year-old Anisimova, who has had to deal with the death of her father and coach Konstantin Anisimov. Following that massive personal setback, the American took some time off the tour – she sat out the US Open and a few events in the Asian swing.
Now, she is back in the play as she looks to build some momentum in the final leg of the season. So far, she is off to a winning start as she defeated the experienced Australian Samantha Stosur in the opener with 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.
Anisimova has been fairly brilliant in a lot of tournaments this season. She won her maiden singles title in Bogota and later, reached the semifinal in the French Open where she defeated the likes of Simona Halep and Aryna Sabalenka. She has swiftly fought her way into the top 30 and now, will be eager to go even further.
Pliskova v Anisimova Tips & Predictions
Given the form Pliskova is in at the moment, we can expect her to win this one comfortably. However, Anisimova is a talented young player who will be sure to put up a fight against the Czech. All in all, we have an entertaining game at our hands.
