Kiki Bertens v Bernarda Pera Head to Head
The two players have met only once on the tour, in the WTA Sydney earlier this season. Bertens, not so surprisingly, won that match with 7-5, 6-4.
Bertens, Fighting a Slump in Asia
Just a couple of months back, Kiki Bertens look primed to break into the top three. Now, she is fighting hard to retain her spot in the top 10. With two singles titles and a win-loss tally of 43-20, the Dutchwoman has been more than impressive this season.
She won the St. Petersburg Trophy and Madrid Open, in addition to reaching the final in the WTA ‘s-hertogenbosch and the Palermo Open. But then, following that eventful run in Palermo, Bertens’ form dipped slightly, unfortunately in time for the US Open. She moved on to lose early in Toronto, Cincinnati, and New York.
Then, she arrived in Asia and started her swing in the Zhengzhou Open where she lost her opener to Ajla Tomljanovic. The same thing happened to her in the WTA Osaka as well, where she was defeated by Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the first round. So far in the Asian swing, she is 0-2.

Pera, Looking to Make an Impression
The left-handed American made it to the main draw in Wuhan as a qualifier after defeating the likes of Nicole Gibbs and Tamara Zidansek. Then, in the first round, she defeated Jennifer Brady in the first round to set up this clash with Bertens.
Pera hasn’t been among the most consistent player on the circuit although, she has had her moments in WTA International tournaments. Most notably, she reached the semifinal in Prague, Lausanne, and Jurmala, in addition to reaching the quarterfinal in the Bronx Open. As for her last tournament, it was in Guangzhou last week where she lost to the veteran Australian Samantha Stosur in the second round in three sets.
Bertens v Pera Tips & Predictions
Bertens has been struggling with her form quite a bit of late. Despite her talents and experience, she has succumbed unexpectedly on many occasions and this match against Pera may just prove to be another one of them. It will be interesting to see how Kiki navigates this fixture, especially with the psychological disadvantage she is at, at the moment.
Tip: Over 20.5 games in the match: 17/20 (888Sport)
