Elina Svitolina v Svetlana Kuznetsova Head to Head
Svitolina currently holds a 2-1 lead over Kuznetsova, last beating her in the 2018 Cincinnati Open in three sets.
Confident Svitolina Marches On
Elina Svitolina started her campaign in Wuhan as the number three seed against Garbine Muguruza. In what turned out to be a confident display of skills and tennis, Svitlolina stunned the Spaniard in straight sets.
Currently ranked World No. 3 – her singles best ranking yet, she recently had a sensational run in the US Open where she reached her maiden Grand Slam semifinal. However, following that mesmerizing run, her form appears to have dipped marginally in the Asian swing.
Playing in her third Asian tournament this month, Svitolina has so far featured in Zhengzhou and Guangzhou. In the third case, she fell in the quarterfinal to Kristina Mladenovic while in the second, she retired against Marie Bouzkova in round two with knee pain.
Her clinical win over Muguruza has clearly quelled any concerns of an injury as the Ukrainian now looks to add yet another feather to her cap.

Qualifier Kuznetsova Starts Strong
Still continuing her long ascent to the top 30 after an equally long injury break, Svetlana Kuznetsova started her Asian swing in Wuhan as a qualifier. She made it to the main draw without any difficulties and so far, has proven herself to be quite exceptional.
With a couple of impressive, straight-set victories over Yulia Putintseva and Su-Wei Hsieh, she reached the third round in a way reminiscent of her recent run in the Cincinnati Open. That was a brilliant performance by the Russian, where she defeated Sloane Stephens, Karolina Pliskova, and Ashleigh Barty to reach the final.
Despite eventually falling to Madison Keys, that breathtaking run propelled her into the top 100. More than that, it was impressive to see Kuznetsova play at such a superior level. As a winner of 18 singles titles, including two Grand Slams, she clearly has the experience and ability to perform at such a big stage.
Kuznetsova v Svitolina Tips & Predictions
While Svitolina will start this match as the favourite, she will be in for an epic battle against Kuznetsova. This can very well prove to be a three setter with both the players pushing each other to the limits.
