Borna Coric v Alex de Minaur Head to Head
The pair have never played each other before. This will be the first meeting between the 22-year old Croat, and de Minaur, who is two years his junior.
Coric, Looking to Continue Recovery
Coric began the year well, reaching the fourth round in Melbourne, the semi-finals in Dubai and s-Hertogenbosch, and the quarter finals in Miami and Monte Carlo.
But that progress was seriously checked by a back injury that forced him to pull out of Halle, miss Wimbledon altogether, and then withdraw before his second round match at Flushing Meadows.
His run to the final in St. Petersburg last week then was significant, and although he lost in the end to Daniil Medvedev, he now knows that he can trust his body enough to cope with successive matches in a tournament.
He started his campaign this week on Thursday, with a comfortable straight sets win over Chinese wildcard Di Wu.

De Minaur has reached this stage of the competiton after ending the latest comeback from Andy Murray in the second round on Thursday, although he had to come from a set down to beat the former world number one.
He will have regarded that as a good test, however, as he looks to build on his recent form which saw him reach the fourth round at the US Open, his best ever showing at a Grand Slam.
Now the challenge for the young Australian is to add consistency to the obvious talent which has already seen him make four ATP finals and win two of them, both this year, firstly in Sydney in January, and then, again in Atlanta, in July.

Coric is the odds-on favourite to win this match at 1/2, whilst de Minaur is priced at 8/5. It is the Australian who has won titles this year, whilst the Croat has missed a lot of tennis due to injury. Despite that, he reached his first final last week, and, with a number of the seeds here already gone, he will rate his chances of getting to another final, and perhaps going even better, highly.
