Stefanos Tsitsipas v John Isner Head to Head
The pair have played each other twice in their career with the American winning on both the occasions, first at the Shanghai Masters in 2017 & then at Wimbledon in 2018.
Tsitsipas Looking to Rediscover Early Season Form
Despite a drop in form in the second half of the season, Tsitsipas has had an impressive 2019 so far. He has reached four finals this year, from which he won at Marseille and Estoril. He also reached the semi-finals at the Australian Open at the start of the year. In the second half of the season, his form has suffered from him going out in the first round of six tournaments, including the Wimbledon and the US Open.
Despite that, he is still number six in the race to reach the World Tour finals in London. After a couple of hard-fought victories in the first two rounds here in Beijing this week he will be hoping to go all the way. An impressive showing this week will all but guarantee his entry in the season-ending event in London.
He will be looking to take inspiration from last year, where after an average US hard court swing but ended the season strongly with impressive results at Stockhold & Next Gen ATP Finals.

Big Serving Isner in Search of Consistency
Similar to his opponent, Isner’s season also started on a very impressive note before sizzling out as the months went by. He reached three back to back semi-finals at New York, Delray Beach & Acapulco Open before going all the way in Miami, where he lost to Roger Federer in the final.
His season picked when he won the title at Newport open. Since then, he has suffered multiple early-round exits and hasn’t gone past round three in the last six tournaments he has played in.
He skipped the Asian hard court leg of the tour last season and has no points to defend this week. After two impressive victories in the first two rounds this week, the big-serving American will be looking to reach the final four with still an outside chance of making it to the ATP World Tour Finals.
Stefanos Tsitsipas v John Isner Predictions & Tips
Both the players go into the match with some indifferent form leading into the tournament. Tsitsipas is a strong baseliner with an excellent game near the net, although his game is more suited to the Grass courts, his record is equally impressive on the hard courts. Isner, on the other hand, relies on his big serve and the ability to hit winners.
It is going to be a close match with the advantage of being with the player who serves better.
