Kiki Bertens v Alison Van Uytvanck to Head
The two ladies are meeting on the tour for the first time since the 2011 WTA Tessenderlo. Back then, Alison was the winner in three sets.
Bertens Starts with a Promising Win
After struggling with her form and inconsistency for what seemed like an eternity, it appears that Kiki Bertens has finally found her groove once again, just in time to end the season on a high note. World No. 8 had a good semifinal run in the China Open, where she defeated the likes of Dayana Yastremska and Elina Svitolina.
Now, looking to build on that momentum, the Dutchwoman arrived in Linz as the top seed and started with a straight-set win over Misaki Doi. Having enjoyed a pretty-decent season, where Bertens broke into the top 10 and won two titles – St. Petersburg Open and Madrid Open, she has certainly staked her claim as a top 10 player. In fact, for a brief period, she was even in the top five before her form struggles derailed her ambitious plans.
With a win-loss tally of 48-22 and two runner-up titles in the process, Bertens has also been one of the most hardworking players on the tour this season. Despite a minor drop in form in Asia, she certainly holds all the cards here in Linz.

Van Uytvanck, Fresh Off a Title Run
The 25-year-old Belgian has had a pretty decent time this season, with two singles titles and a strike rate of 29-21. Most recently, she won the Tashkent Open defeating Sorana Cirstea in the final. That was a much-needed win by Alison Van Uytvanck, who spent the previous months struggling a great deal with her form.
Apart from that, she also won the WTA Budapest at the start of the season and reached the semifinal in WTA Morocco. The rest of her season is pretty much marked by her early exits. In Linz, she is off to a good start with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Ysaline Bonaventure in the opener.
Bertens v Van Uytvanck Tips & Predictions
Bertens should win this match with absolute ease. No surprises to be expected here, unless the Belgian somehow manages to tap into the zen that helped her beat the Dutchwoman more than eight years ago.
