Kiki Bertens v Cori Gauff to Head
This is the first meeting between the two players on the circuit.
Bertens, Continuing her Clinical Run
So far in Austria, World No. 8 Kiki Bertens has had a good run with resounding victories over the likes of Misaki Doi and Alison Van Uytvanck. Hunting her third singles title of the season, the top seed faced some resistance against Uytvanck in the second round. Losing the first set, Bertens moved on to stage a comeback and take the match 4-6, 6-3, 6-3.
With a win-loss tally of 50-22 at the moment, Kiki has truly proven herself to be a brilliant player on the circuit with a bright, promising future ahead of her. Having won the Madrid Open and St. Petersburg Open, where she defeated a litany of top 10 players, the 27-year-old soon became a part of top five and looked primed to climb up even further.
However, her form took a slight hit in the US Open series and despite reaching the final in Palermo and the Libema Open, she was soon out of the top five. This trend continued well into the Asian Swing and it wasn’t until the last week in China Open that Bertens finally found her groove once again. With a semifinal run in Beijing, she sent a strong message to the rest of the players on the tour that she is back.

Gauff, Making the Most of her Chance
The 15-year-old Cori Gauff is playing in the tournament as a lucky loser. Despite losing in the qualifiers, she found herself competing in the main draw in an unexpected tryst with fate. With a sensational season already, the American is one of the few players to look out for on the 2020 WTA Tour.
She rose to prominence at the Wimbledon where, as a qualifier, she reached the fourth round after knocking out Venus Williams. Then, in the US Open, she reached the third round losing to Naomi Osaka ultimately. Gauff completely sat out the Asian swing and is competing in her first tournament since her run at the Flushing Meadows.
With a win-loss tally of 23-13, she spent the first half of the year on ITF circuit where she enjoyed some success. Now, hunting her first singles title, Gauff has so far moved past the likes of Stefanie Vogele and Kateryna Kozlova.
Bertens v Gauff Tips & Predictions
There is a massive difference in experience between the two players but that doesn’t mean that Gauff cannot give Bertens a run for her money. This is one of the most intriguing fixtures in the WTA Linz this season and if Bertens clears this hurdle, she is primed to win the tournament. As for Gauff, this will be a match to remember.
