Pablo Carreno Busta v John Millman Predictions & Preview
This will be the third meeting between Pablo Carreno-Busta and John Millman, with the head to head currently standing at 1-1. Both those matches, however, came three years ago, with Millman winning in Miami first round and Carreno Busta triumphing in the semi-final of the Winston-Salem Open that year. Carreno Busta had gone on to win that title too.
Carreno Busta looks like he’s back in the mix again, possessing a 31-19 win-loss record this year. Take his appalling clay record out of this equation and it betters to 24-10. This includes a title win at Chengdu and qualifying for the Shanghai Masters where he then made it to the second round. What makes this an even more impressive last few months is since his opening round defeat at Kitzbuhel on clay, Carreno Busta has featured in seven tournaments and won at least two matches in six of them.
Millman himself is coming off something to be proud of – as a qualifier he made it to the final at the Japan Open where he then went down to Novak Djokovic. Had he won that, it would have been his first ever ATP title. It was followed by a second round loss at Shanghai Masters but he had done enough to propel his rankings up to 58th.
Trust there to be a fight in this one with Carreno Busta needing three sets to make the second round.

Radu Albot v Yoshihito Nishioka Predictions & Preview
In his only previous meeting with Yoshihito Nishioka, Albot had won in straight sets at the Delray Beach Open but much like the previous match, that was played in 2016. This one, between the 47th-ranked Albot and 75th-ranked Nishioka might get slightly closer.
Now Albot did have a good first half of the season and even won his first ever ATP title when he clinched the Delray Beach Open and then made the third and second round respectively at Indian Wells and Miami – both times as a qualifier. The rest of the season hasn’t gone to the script though.
Losses have piled on thick and fast, and over his previous seven matches, he has won just two.
Nishioka was a quarter-finalist at the Cincinnati Masters despite having gone in as a qualifier, but had to afford his opponent a walkover because of food poisoning. After that, there was a second round at the US Open but failure to qualify for the Shanghai Masters would hurt.
Again, Albot will start a favourite but might need three sets to come through here.
Tip: Albot to win in three sets: 17/5 with Unibet

Sam Querrey v Dennis Novak Predictions & Preview
This will be the first time that the American Sam Querrey will be facing Austria’s Dennis Novak in a match and given his 80-rank advantage, he should start a favourite.
Querrey won the 10th and final of his ATP titles in 2017 and since then hasn’t had the best time on the circuit. Last year he registered a paltry 25-24 win-loss record and while it’s improved this year to 21-14, it’s still not those levels which had taken him to 11th in the world. First round losses at the US Open and Shanghai Masters sandwiched a quarter-final showing at China Open, underlining the inconsistencies that have plagued him this year.
That said, he is playing someone who has never been a top-100 player and coming off a 2-2 win-loss record in Challengers. He won a couple of qualifiers to get to the main draw but this is where his journey can be expected to hit the stop button for Stockholm.
Tip: Querrey to win in straight sets: 6/4 with Unibet

Filip Krajinovic v Casper Ruud Predictions & Preview
Filip Krajinovic kick-starts his Stockholm Open campaign with a first round match against Casper Ruud and at first sight, it comes as a surprise that one player is such a heavy favourite in this one. Yep, Krajinovic starts off at 18/35 to win this one as opposed to 15/8 for a Ruud win and why I say this is surprising is because of the close proximity of their rankings.
Ruud is in fact a rank higher, 59th to Krajinovic’s 60th, and for then to be that big a disparity is indeed questionable.
Especially because Krajinovic’s recent form has been anything but extraordinary. His quarter-finals appearance at the Metz Open was preceded and followed by three first round defeats over as many tournaments. Ruud himself hasn’t had a great time, but he did make it to the quarter-finals at the indoor courts of St. Petersburg and that should make this an exciting contest.
Tip: Games Handicap Casper Ruud +2.5: 11/10 with Unibet
